Shimoni & Wasini Island

Shimoni is the mainland departure point for the marine park, while nearby Wasini Island serves as a motor-free base for food and walks.

Almost all trips to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park start at the Shimoni jetty, located 90 kilometers south of Mombasa. From here, traditional dhows and motorboats launch across the channel to the reef.

After snorkeling, most tours dock at Wasini Island. You can eat fresh seafood, walk across fossilized coral gardens, and learn about local Swahili culture before returning to the mainland.
